VOM Nov 10 Update

After "Abdul" and his family came to Christ in a predominantly Muslim area of Uganda, they faced persecution from villagers and Muslim leaders. Local leaders came to his defense, and for the most part, the harassment ended. However, still fearful that they are being watched, Abdul and his family decided to be baptized in another village. A VOM worker says a strong discipleship team located in the region continues to see people like Abdul and his family come to Christ in spite of the risk of persecution. Some converts come openly to church events, but the team also meets secretly with believers who have not yet told their Muslim families about their new faith. Imagine the persecution of going through this. Many nations are still restricted and do not allow for Christians to live or worship freely. This kind of intolerance for the Christian community is growing in some places and dwindling in others. Our only hope is the Prayers of the Righteous and more importantly the power of the Blood of Jesus.

Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Check it out!

I Heard The Flowers Whisper

I heard the flowers whisper
behind the garden gate
about how scandalous the Sun
had been to Earth of late.

He'd burnt her dainty edges
and warmed her vast blue seas
while courting dusky kisses
from Moon, just as you please!

In Flanders Fields

Mine Host

There stands a hostel by a traveled way;
Life is the road and Death the worthy host;
Each guest he greets, nor ever lacks to say,
"How have ye fared?"  They answer him, the most,
"This lodging place is other than we sought;
We had intended farther, but the gloom
Came on apace, and found us ere we thought:
Yet will we lodge.  Thou hast abundant room."
Within sit haggard men that speak no word,
No fire gleams their cheerful welcome shed;
No voice of fellowship or strife is heard
But silence of a multitude of dead.
"Naught can I offer ye," quoth Death, "but rest!"
And to his chamber leads each tired guest

A Durable Fire: Mozart Again

Mozart Again

Now it is Mozart who comes back again
All garlanded in green.
Flue, harp, and trumpet, the sweet violin --
Each sound is seen.

Spring is a phrase, repeated green refrain,
Sound of new leaves springing.
I see the wind flowing like slanted rain,
Wind winging.

I learn this loving fresh, in ancient style
(Lightly time flows),
And mine a green world for pure joy awhile.
Listen, a rose!

Leaves are glissando. A long haunting phrase
Ripples the air --
This harpsichord of light that the wind plays.
Mozart is there.

Can't Breathe

Can't breathe
Nasals arid
as a desert wind
The running ceiling fan
Cools me not
It dries
My sleepless eyes.

Too much
Tossing and turning
Unable to think,
Senseless thoughts
Occupying my mind
Leaving no room
For my fears
Of the night.

My stomach
Is performing
It's own concert
Like children whimpering
In their nightmares.

Can't wait to see
The eastern skies
Fading to gray
exposing the outlines
Of the trees.

I crave
The oncoming scene
Of the orange hues
To paint the heavens
Of the horizon east
I'll know then
Tomorrow is outside.

My Poetry #1

Velvet,
Thorium,
Potassium,
All poured into a glass spoon,
Teeth, her teeth sink past..
The gears turn,
Making metal noises,

STOP: •
Cries from above,
See the mean fairy dance,
Leaves fall, suddenly I don't know,
How long or how shallow the grave,
Will be

Oliver Wendell Holmes

Extracts from a Medical Poem. The Stability of Science

THE feeble sea-birds, blinded in the storms,
On some tall lighthouse dash their little forms,
And the rude granite scatters for their pains
Those small deposits that were meant for brains.
Yet the proud fabric in the morning̢۪s sun
Stands all unconscious of the mischief done;
Still the red beacon pours its evening rays
For the lost pilot with as full a blaze,—
Nay, shines, all radiance, o̢۪er the scattered fleet
Of gulls and boobies brainless at its feet.

I tell their fate, though courtesy disclaims
To call our kind by such ungentle names;
Yet, if your rashness bid you vainly dare,
Think of their doom, ye simple, and beware.

See where aloft its hoary forehead rears
The towering pride of twice a thousand years!
Far, far below the vast incumbent pile
Sleeps the gray rock from art̢۪s AEgean isle
Its massive courses, circling as they rise,
Swell from the waves to mingle with the skies;
There every quarry lends its marble spoil,
And clustering ages blend their common toil;
The Greek, the Roman, reared its ancient walls,
The silent Arab arched its mystic halls;
In that fair niche, by countless billows laved,
Trace the deep lines that Sydenham engraved;
On yon broad front that breasts the changing swell,
Mark where the ponderous sledge of Hunter fell;
By that square buttress look where Louis stands,
The stone yet warm from his uplifted hands;
And say, O Science, shall thy life-blood freeze,
When fluttering folly flaps on walls like these?

The Hope of My Heart

The Hope Of My Heart

"Delicta juventutis et ignorantius ejus, quoesumus ne memineris, Domine."

I left, to earth, a little maiden fair,
With locks of gold, and eyes that shamed the light;
I prayed that God might have her in His care
           And sight.

Earth's love was false; her voice, a siren's song;
(Sweet mother-earth was but a lying name)
The path she showed was but the path of wrong
           And shame.

"Cast her not out!" I cry.  God's kind words come —
"Her future is with Me, as was her past;
It shall be My good will to bring her home
           At last."

VOM

Masked gunmen burst into Christian leader Yousuf Bhat’s home late on a Wednesday evening and shot him to death.
Yousuf Bhat, a respected Christian leader in India’s volatile Kashmir region, left Islam and became a follower of Christ more than 16 years ago. He could not keep his faith to himself. Yousuf distributed thousands of Bibles and JESUS films, planted churches and taught new Christians. And earlier this year, he paid the price with his life.
Will you pray for his family and Christian co-workers? Post your prayer on www.icommittopray.com.

This and countless examples of Christian Martyrdom are fluently scattered throughout the world and each individual Martyr is a hero of Christ in their own right. How can we as a body of Christ pray for the persecuted to find peace and love?

Life & Death

In reading a story about the shared turmoil, persecution and bigotry within both the Jewish and African ethnicity's I thought to myself how often we misplace people in current society. The displacement of life is still there, creeping in different forms looking for prey to capture. We need to analysis our historical background and make the necessary changes in our current lives to effect the future positively. Loving one another like Christ Loved us and Loves us still is where the key is. When we open the door to the heart of others and of God we are in for a powerful new life.

VOM

Danjuma

His face is marked with a vicious scar…and a brilliant smile.
Thirteen–year–old Danjuma Shakaru was critically injured during an attack on his village in northern Nigeria. Muslim militants struck Danjuma on the head, arm and body with their machetes. Thinking he was dead, the villagers who found him dug his grave.
But Danjuma’s grave is empty. He is alive in part because of the care he received through VOM’s medical program. Violence against Christians in Nigeria continues to rise, and VOM helped more than 500 believers with serious medical injuries during the past year. VOM pays for travel costs, hospital bills, prostheses, tests and medicines for severely injured Christians. Will you help us serve others like Danjuma?

Check out VOM today and find out how you can pray and help a Christian in trouble or need!

new Poetry

this world will not fulfill me

life is a series of blue moons
indigo children traipsing on metal shells
I can see the constellations stumble
from my hideout in this cropduster graveyard

my feet long to taste black sand
my dreams are mercury-infused
zigzagging lucidity leaves me buzzing
caffeine has nothing on catharsis

I want to form a caravan
float to rocking gondolas
in the carcass of a carnival in Madrid

but this life is like mashing every button
on a broken-down elevator
I wash my hair in water that was once a glacier
and I weep for clutter
BPA, artificial lighting, ten-car pile ups and artists

self-induced hypnosis
is all that helps
I swallow acid reflux
and scratch at budding hives

death is a parent's approving smile
applause for the last wobbling steps
I could stop straining now
break my toes and fold into a cedar box
I've always wanted to live in a treehouse

Forte Isolation - KRD

Forte Isolation

A morphing of thought, once occurred to me,
Finally a life-line could be called,
As if something was never wrong,

I could prong the depths of a situation,
With the eye's of the former,
Calling me further,

Shadow's are darker in day's unwent,
By people unnoticed,
And lives unseen,
Without a distraction,
One can do very much,
In the shortest amount of time,

The betrayal of self,
Is thought to be inquity,
Or a gross-form of conscious,
But who are you betraying?
If not yourself,
Someone else?

Thunder Can Break

Thunder Can Break

FANFARE of drums, wooden bells: iron chapter; And our dividing airs are gathered home. This day belong to a miracle of thunder; Iron has carried the forum With token gestures. Thunder has spoken, Left no signatures: broken Barbaricans alone tell one tale the winds scatter. Mountain or tower in sight, lo, your hostages - Iron has made, alas, masterpieces - Statuettes of legendary heroes - iron birds Held - fruit of flight - tight For barricaded in iron handiwork a miracle caged. Bring them out we say, bring them out Faces and hands and feet, The stories behind the myth, the plot Which the ritual enacts. Thunder can break - Earth, bind me fast - Obduracy, the disease of elephants.

Fear by Marush

Fear...

My mind is plagued by all sorts of thoughts
They come and go as they please
But sometimes there are some who do not stop
To haunt me tirelessly

I try to distract myself
With work, games or books
But those thoughts keep coming back
And bait me with their hooks

I know what drives them now
What gives them endless frontier
What keeps me awake all those nights
Yes, I know, it is Fear

Fear! How you haunt us
Track us down in a never ending hunt
We fear so many things
That life seems to keep out in front

Be it other people and their cruelty
Be it Poverty, Loneliness and Pain
Be it sarcastic ridicule of others
Fear, you drive us insane

You paralyse our ability
To go out and seek our neighbour’s good
You destroy our very capacity
To reach those stars as we should

We fear the shadows of small probabilities
We fear the ultimate Unknown
How I crave some rest from your gaze
How I wish you would leave me alone

My mind seeks a place of rest
Where thoughts are tethered only by a string
Of peace and joy and contentment
And not the torments that you bring

I guess I now understand a little
What the Good Lord always to His Disciples said
He knows us so well and thus commands,
“Do not be afraid”!

Dying for Christ

An entire community of believers is grief-stricken by the murder of Mohammad Yousf Bhat, a Christian convert from Islam who was shot to death at his home in Kashmir. On July 1, four gunmen wearing uniforms and masks pushed their way into Yousf’s home before shooting him to death. Yousf had been involved in sharing Christ with Muslims for more than 15 years and was a key Christian leader in the region. He leaves behind a wife and three children.

Living for Christ

“Prasad Bandi” knew that his church in Tamil Nadu, India, could be attacked at any time, but he faithfully continued serving as its pastor.
Then, during evening services on Feb. 22, someone on a motorcycle threw a Molotov cocktail at the church. Within minutes, the roof of the building — constructed of palm leaves and sheets of plastic — was consumed by flames. With assistance from The Voice of the Martyrs, Prasad is preaching in his church again, knowing that it is still a potential target.
Prasad is one of the more than 30,000 front-line workers supported by The Voice of the Martyrs. These workers share the gospel at great risk in hostile and restricted nations. As they minister in these difficult places, they need our prayers. Will you commit to pray for them as they share Christ?

From Voice of the Martyrs

The difficulties of a Christian life are many but through Christ we can do all things Philippians 4:13 although in America we don't have many churches attacked by terrorist(although we do) we still have our battles.

Continue on in prayer for all believers, unbelievers and everyone in Heaven or on Earth!!

That Old Rugged Cross

That Old Rugged Cross

One of the most enduring symbols known to man
is the post and crossbeam hence the cross.
And it is a sign that means man's salvation.
Jesus gave us life eternal with his loss.

Some see just two pieces of wood, nothing more
But it's way much more than that, you see.
For Christianity it's our faith's central core
It once held God's son after his Calvary.

There's too many of them portrayed differently
Way back traced to those ancient archaic times.
Christ said he was the way, truth the light because he
Was sent down to earth his purpose was divine.

So the next time you see that cross anywhere

Bow your head bend your knees to God up there.

St. Pete Makes A Mistake

The day had finally come at last.
I met St. Pete at the Pearly Gates.
He asked me my name, then laughed,
Said, "Oh Mel, you're at the wrong estate.

He had suddenly pushed a button,
I dropped down into a large chute.
I went round and round, til the end.
There stood someone in a red suit.
No it was not good ole Santa Claus,

Satan stood right inside Hell's Gates.
He said, "Welcome to my hot estate!"
"Been expecting you, and you're late."

I screamed, "No, it's a big mistake."
Looked in his Book, said your right.
Called up St. Pete and called him a fool,
Get her outta here, she wouldn't fit in here.
Take her back, we down here are too cool.

He cast a spell, appeared again in front of St. Pete,
Thought to myself, its crazy, should of stayed home.
Then St. Pete said, "I'm so sorry, you may enter in."
That did it, fainted next to good ole St. Pete's feet.
